    A Gilt Bronze Figure of Tsongkhapa, 18th Century

    Tsongkhapa (1357–1419), whose name means “The Man from Onion Valley”, was a famous teacher of Tibetan Buddhism whose activities led to the formation of the Geluk school. He is also known by his ordained name Lobsang Drakpa (blo bzang grags pa) or simply as Je Rinpoche. Shown seated in vajrasana on a lotus base, with hands in dharmacakramudra, each holding the stem of a lotus supporting a khadga above the right shoulder and a pustaka above the left shoulder, wearing priest's robes with foliate borders.

    Diam: 7in x 4 2/3in, (18cm x 11cm.) high
    Condition: No restoration, normal wear by aging. With original base cover
